Has anyone figured out a way of altering or rebuilding a gasoline vehicle to use less gas? I'm not talking about hybrids, rather altering the vehicles everyone drives now to where we might not have to use as much gas. i'm getting really fed up with paying so much while these oil companies jack up the prices and we just sit here and keep dishing out our hard earned cash! Is anyone else doing anything to their unleaded cars that uses less gasoline and succeeded?
Tired of paying Oil companies...anything I can do to my car?
I ride my bicycle whenever I can and stick it to those corporate bastards! Then I spend my money on alcohol and help those corporate bastards! When will it stop!!??!!??

The short answer is No. Two years ago, we traded in a perfectly satisfactory Ford for a hybrid -- which gets double the gas mileage. It wasn't paying for itself at the time, but every day it is looking like a smart move.
Reply:try a hho kit. it is a new idea and is by no means perfected but it is a cheap fuel source. you could also try buying an older mecedes benz diesel and turning it into a bio diesel.
Reply:Well a few of my friends are street racers, and they says that and air intake and an exhaust system helps with their gas mileage. I'm not a fan of an exhaust system (too loud for me) but I did buy a short ram air intake for my car. Gas mileage is a tiny bit better, around 1mpg, but hey, it pays off.
ps. it may vary for your car, mine was 30 bucks, and you can get them at most racing shops.
Reply:Hi,
If you don't want to use Gas at all (diluted) than you can make your car run on water!(hydrogen) It is quite easy and very cheap and does not affect car performence. Type in convert car to hydrogen on google or Youtube. to get more infor or for instructons on how to do it!
hope this helps!
Reply:There are few thing you can do to save (or maximize) gas MPG. First get a tune-up.
(1) spark plugs
(2) spark plug wires
(3) distributors, coil, rotors (if you have them).
(4) new air filter
(5) PCV
(6) correct tire pressure
(7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items

Then there is the REAL way to save gas without spending not ONE dime:
Forget all those "SAVE GAS" scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas:
(1) drive slow - not too much past 55
(2) accelerate slowly
(3) don't brake unnecessarily
(4) use cruise control - whenever it is safe to do so.
Don't coast - it is NOT safe and it does NOT save gas.
The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That's 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55.
WOW !!
Good Luck...
P.S. One guy mentioned HYDROGEN. NO they are scams. Even if you don't understand the science behind it (with is all wrong), ask yourself this one simple question - if those devices work at all, why don't the car companies install them at the factory and sell more cars? because they don't work.
P.P.S. there's lot of people giving advice when they don't have all the fact. The HHO is what I mentioned above (hydrogen). And diesel cars are NOT converted to run on BIO- diesel. Bio-diesel is the FUEL not the car. Bio-diesel is just diesel made from veggie oil and runs on ANY diesel car.
Reply:Ignore "ryan e" and "ryanpatrick42", these HHO gas systems are just a giant scam.
For more info on why they are a scam, check out the link below.
The information FlashMan gave is right on the money so follow his advice, don't even think about wasting your money on these "run your car on water" scams that abound on the net.
