yes.
Pump tyres to correct pressure and keep windows shut.
Is having the windows cracked on my car better for fuel mileage than having them all the way down?
Having the windows up all the way and decreasing the wind drag is the optimal way to drive.
As far as increasing fuel mileage, google hypermiling for tips.

Forget all those "SAVE GAS" scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas:
(1) drive slow - not too much past 55
(2) accelerate slowly
(3) don't brake unnecessarily
(4) use cruise control - whenever it is safe to do so.
Don't coast - it is NOT safe and it does NOT save gas.
The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That's 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55.
WOW !!
Good Luck...

P.S. The best MPG would be if you drove with the window closed and AC off on the HWY. But that will cook you alive. So on the HWY, it is actually better to use the AC than to use the window open. On street driving, it is better to use the window (open) than to use the AC.
Reply:Flashman is right ..............
Reply:It really depends on the type of driving you do. If your in the city driving 35-40mph having the windows down won't effect the mpg all that much and can be better than running the A/C. Highways speeds of 55mph+ the wind will have more effect on the mpg.

Other ways to increase mpg are:
-Getting oil changed every 3000-4000 miles(or as advised by oil type)
-Properly inflating tires
-Go easy on the gas pedal
-Let off the gas as you approach intersections and avoid over braking
-Keep air filters clean
