If you buy a cell phone with GPS installed, if you fly across the world, would it still work?

i mean,,,if you bought it in new york...and you flew to england....then to australia...then to africa....then to antartica....will it still pin point your exact location %26amp; guide you on all the roads %26amp; streets? or just major streets %26amp; highways?
