When the car's alarm goes off, what's the first thing you do?
Dig around in my purse for 10 minutes frantically searching for my stupid keys. I can never find the darn things when I need them ;)

Assuming I did, and depending on its history (set off by trucks going by, etc.) I would probably just get the remote and take a peek out the window. If I didn't see anyone nearby, I'd reset it and go about my business. If it wasn't known to go off without good reason, on the other hand, I'd grab the remote, flashlight, and the .40 and take a peek out the window, as well as the perimeter of the house. Realistically, the time to see anyone/anything was probably before the alarm went off, but can't be too careful.
