Cilivlian strobe lights?

Alright so i realize it is obviously completely illegal to have blue or red strobe lights IN USE on your vehicle. But is it illegal to simply have them on your car, for example.. if i were to have a whole rack of LED lights both blue and white on the interior of my car, mainly the front dash, possibly in the headlamps and rear dash. Simply HAD THEM THERE but was not USING THEM would this still be considered illegal if a police officer were to see that i had the lights in my car but did not catch me using them. I have a dodge intrepid and id like to give the impression of an unmarked police vehicle so people will not ride my *** but would like to know the legality of having the lights but not ever using them.
Cilivlian strobe lights?
why dont you drive your slowass faster so ppl dont ride your tail
Cilivlian strobe lights?
Police officers would not like it regardless of the reason.

Yellow strobes can be mounted to vehicles rather easily.

I believe that you can legally transport strobes of various colors on the roof of your car (they can't be permanently affixed), or they have to have the strobe bulbs removed.

Impersonating an officer is a felony. Just having the lights may already constitute that.

On another note, put antennas on your back and roof. Spend 300 bucks on em, and people won't tailgate you again and even move out of your way. The car should ideally be a white, black, grey or dark blue crown vic, though. An intrepid won't readily be recognized as a cop car in most areas.
Reply:The laws vary from state to state. There could also be some municipal laws regarding this. So..if you just want to make the impression I don't see how you could be arrested so long as they don't work. Meaning that there is no electricity or batteries connected to them.
Reply:Police know which cars are unmarked cruisers from the license plates. They'll see through your attempt and wonder why you're trying to evade them, and you'll be pulled over more often than now, even if you're not speeding.

So it's a really, really dumb idea.

Also, police strobes are calibrated so as to not cause seizures in people with epilepsy. Normal car-top strobes aren't. This would make the strobes appear to be a positive danger to other drivers, and they could be confiscated. (And you're crazy if you think the police would bring out an electrician to see whether they were wired before confiscating them.)
Reply:i would have to say it would be a bad idea i know around here your *** would be in trouble quick and for the person who thinks it takes an electrician to tell if lights are hooked up or not it doesn't any one with half a brain can tell if something is hooked up......
