I need help choosing a car?

My parents are letting me get any kind of car I want, as long as it is an American made car (I used to drive a Saab, but my dad was annoyed at how expensive the parts were).

So basically, I need to know what kind of car I should look into.

I want a car that...

...is American made.

...is a convertible.

...has four seats.

...is not long (so I want it to be kind of small, because I'm used to driving a Saab 9-3, so I'm more comfortable with compact cars)

...isn't too low to the ground.

...doesn't have bucket seats.

...is fairly recent (1996-present)

...has air conditioning, CD player.

...gets decent gas mileage.

And obviously I want a car that is safe, well-made, made by a good car company and won't break down all the time lol.

My mom was saying I should look at Pontiacs.

lol sorry if I sound like some spoiled kid, I'm really not :o)

Don't say something like "get a pinto..." or something like that just for the points. Thanks!

The Ford Mustang makes a pretty good convertible, unfortunately it has bucket seats . Chrysler Seibring is also an option, but your going to have to look long and hard to find a convertible with bench seats.
Reply:There hasn't been a convertible sold without bucket seats in many years.

Your best bet would be a Chrysler Sebring convertible. They have a real back seat, and are fairly inexpensive, but isn't to low to the ground. Other than that it does meet your criteria other than the bucket seat one, but you won't find any car made recently without them. The one possibility on that is if you found an Olds Cutlass convertible from the early to mid nineties, they might have offered that car with a split bench seat.
Reply:the pontiac solistice there is a lot that doesnot come with bucket seat but some comes with it. or get the pontiac sunbird
Reply:Ok, your best bet is a pontiac sunfire, or chevrolet cavalier. They both have convertibles out there. You'ld probably would have to shop a little bit to find them. Ford mustang, makes a convertible, If your lucky you can get the gt however , they are not great on gas. http://www.pinnaclems.com/2000_firehawk....

They also have firebirds, and camaros, They are great cars for speed and style. They have four seats but only two doors. All convertibles though.

Its going to be up to you but here are some options.

Good luck, and take me for ride after you pick.
Reply:Ford mustang

Chevrolet corvette
Reply:There aren't many to choose from since you don't want bucket seats even if they're safer. As far as American made, Mitsubishi- Illinois, Nissan- Tennessee, Toyota- California.

Reliability- look at the Camry or Altima, both front wheel drive like the Saab.

As to the convertible, I'd go with a two door due to the problems inherent in the top.

Stay away from the Chevy Rio.
