What the the trucking definition of Laden Weight and UN-Laden Weight ?

laden weight is weight of vehicle plus payload. Un laden is just the weight of the vehicle no payload.
What the the trucking definition of Laden Weight and UN-Laden Weight ?
Laden weight... the weight of the truck and trailer WITH the load on.

Unladen weight... the weight of the truck and trailer WITHOUT the load.

What's the difference between unleaded gasoline and all the others?

is one better than the other?
What's the difference between unleaded gasoline and all the others?
All modern gasoline today are UNLEADED gasoline.

They are better (than leaded) gasoline in that they do NOT pollute the environment.

Good Luck...
What's the difference between unleaded gasoline and all the others?
As now-a-days we have higher octane gasolines, lead has become non useful. Before, when we had gasolines with octane number under 85 (as still there is in some countries) you needed to "stabilize" that fuel, in order to not explode before the spark plug "sparks", without it, the engine wouldn't work well (gasoline would explode before the ignition in the combustion chamber). Lead was also useful as a lubricant in the cilinder head. Now, all the other gasolines only vary in their octane number, if I'm not wrong, you have "regular" with 87 octane number, the next with 89 and the premium with 91. In some parts there is even a 98 octane gasoline, for high performance engines (the higher the compresion, the higher the octane number you need.

So, is better with lead or without it? now is unthinkable to have unleaded gasoline, because environmental and health concerns and also because it would harm permanently the catalyst system of your car.

What should I do with my old car?

I'm in the midst of buying a car %26amp; I'm not sure what to do with my old car. There鈥檙e numerous things that require fixing %26amp; I don鈥檛 want to pay to fix this old car. What should I do with it?
What should I do with my old car?
Call places like GoodWill or The Salvation Army or any other charitable organization.

They will give you paperwork so you can write off what they sell your car for on your taxes.

Or you can list it on a site like http://www.craigslist.org and sell it AS IS to someone who is willing to repair it. BUT MAKE SURE ON THE RECEIPT you write for the person you're selling the car to that the car is known to be non-operational and the car is being sold AS IS for parts so you don't have to deal with legal hassles if the buyer comes back making false claims.
What should I do with my old car?
well, theres all kinds of pple on ebay that will take old, used, broken cars. they will either fix and repair them or they will take the parts that r useful on it and use them. lots of mechanics do this, i even have a freind who does. u can get anywher from 500$ to 2000$ depending on the car and condition of the car. good luck :)
Reply:Polish and clean it up (wash and wax). Sell it privately. Find the trade-in value. And try to sell it above that. At the very least you break even.

Reply:I was raised by a Missouri Highway Patrolman, and my dad always said that the best thing to do is APOLOGIZE. Also, look absolutely dumbfounded when he tells you how fast you were going. If you can convince the trooper that you had no idea you were going so fast, he might give you a warning.

Either way, guess what? It's easier to drive the speed limit. I'm 56 and I've finally figured that out.
Reply:A friend of mine used to be a trooper and he told me the best way to get out of it is to admit the err of your ways, be calm and professional, apologize, tell them you understand what you did was very wrong. If you didn't realize you were speeding, it's fine to admit that, just admit the fact that you know that it's breaking the law. Assure them you will slow down and be more aware of your speed.

Another time, this same friend of mine asked someone he pulled over "If you can give me a good, honest reason, I'll let you go." The person responded "Well, I just didn't think a cop would be there." It was one he hadn't heard before, and it was honest, so he let her go. LOL

Again you just admitted you were speeding.

Be polite and just take the ticket. When he says how fast you were doing - don't agree or disagree. Just say "officer, thank you".

If he (the cop asks) "just how fast do you think you were doing?" You say "I know exactly what speed I was doing. I rather not say any more".

Just be polite. Fight it later with a lawyer. That is why it is important you do NOT say anything that will hurt you.

91 octane or 87?

I drive a brand new bmw 328 it is written on the owner's manual to use only 91 gasoline, but I use 87 almost always, I can't feel any difference using the 2 different gas. Am I really doing somehing wrong? What can happen?
91 octane or 87?
technically its not good for the motor, it causes it to throw off its timing and exaust reading, normally will cause you performance and gas mileage.
91 octane or 87?
It's generally not a good idea to go below what the manual says. You would probably only notice the difference if you were running the car flat out. When you use too low of an octane rating the computer has to retard the timing to make up for the lower octane fuel. That results in decreased power output. In rare cases it could actually lead to engine damage but with today's computer controlled cars it's not likely. You are most likely just losing power and fuel efficeincy.
Reply:Most of the time if you use 87 in a car that needs 91, it will scale down the performance a notch and over time it will gunk up the engine and some say it will wear the engine down. In cars that are written 91 only, your supposed to put 91 only. You may not feel a difference between 87 and 91, but the engine is designed around the use of 91 octane fuel to run at its best, so putting in 87 will still let your car run, but might have a negative effect down the road.

My car needs premium too, mistakingly 87 was put in it one day, it started to knock and ping and it was driving slower than usual, so now i make sure to not put anything but premium in there.

There's been some articles out there saying you don't need 91 if its "required" and are fine with just 87, but none of them study the long term effects of this on the engine. Although many of them have noted the slight decrease in performance, they say its not bad for saving 20 cents a gallon. I'd rather pay that 20 cents a gallon and not gunk up my engine and eventually ruin it, than pay for a new engine sooner.
Reply:First all here is a suggestion, go to the BMW dealer and return the beautiful car back since you are such an asshole cant take care of your car.

Second,... dont ever buy a German car again, go buy urself a ricer..

spoiled.

sounds like you live in orange county. if so, way to prove the orange county stereotypical person.
Whats a cute girl car?
I see a lot of girls riding around in Mini Coopers. Also see a lot of them driving Infiniti G35/G37's now, so thats another one you can look at! Also the new Mercedes C class and Acura RSX are getting really popular amongst girls. Audi TT and the Convertible Mustang are popular too. I'd definately look into the G37 or the Mercedes C class though, i see a lot of girls driving around in one, and they are NICE cars.

But don't get it just to look good, if your going to college it will attract the wrong attention from people who are jealous of you or dislike you and they'll key it or mess it up some other way. It happened to me on campus when i parked in front of the parking lot.

To people who say your spoiled, get over it. She never said the money was from her parents, and even if it was, she's obviously done good enough to deserve having a nice car.
Reply:no offense but i have to agree you sound a little stereotypically spoiled.... and just FYI, if you have to pay for your own gas, you might not wanna get a car that is a gas guzzler. as for which car to get... if you show up in a super flashy school, i know a lot of people are gonna write you off as spoiled, and you're gonna give an impression of you being the stereotypical girl who likes shopping and is empty headed (i'm not saying you are, but ppl might percieve you as such). i think you should get a mini (convertible if you live somewhere warm) because they are cute cars, get good mileage, and don't scream "LOOK HOW RICH I AM".....
Reply:Who cares about a cute care...Get something that is great on gas...Try a Toyota Primus or some other hybrid...Apparently you dont have to worry about the gas going into a care...I guess mommy and daddy will be paying for everything...Get over it dear and grow up!

Would a twin size mattress fit in a trunk of a Mercedes 2003 E-class?
The sedan rather than the station wagon? I don't see how. The mattress is 72" long, and the trunk isn't that long in any direction.
Would a twin size mattress fit in a trunk of a Mercedes 2003 E-class?
might fit if you put it in the trunk and the inside of the car. if you put the seats down to expand the trunk. would be a tight squeeze though...
Reply:Look at for the size of the mattress that your are buying, then check the manual/specs of the Mercedes and determine the length to see if it will fit in. Below is a link to the mattress sizes chart.

2007 Nissan Versa or 2008 Hyundai Elantra??

I currently own a 2007 Nissan Versa with 33,000 miles. I drive this car to the extreme! Between 3,000 - 5,000 a month.. I am looking to trade it in since it is a base model and I owe alot more than its worth. Hyundai dealer has offered me a great deal on a loaded 2008 Elantra $2,000 lower than the wholesale price and to pay me 12,000 for my car! Does anyone know if the Hyundai is a piece of crap? I have heard lots of bad things about them in the past!!
2007 Nissan Versa or 2008 Hyundai Elantra??
well i would just get a hybrid if i was you

save you plenty of gas(as long as your driving city streets not hwy)
2007 Nissan Versa or 2008 Hyundai Elantra??
The Elantra is the highest rated small car by Consumer Reports, beating out the Sentra/Corolla/Civic as their best buy in the category. Hyundai's warranty is 2 yr's and 24000 miles longer then Nissan/Honda/etc bumper to bumper + 10yr/100K powertrain warranty. The Elantra gets good gas mileage like your Versa and isn't expensive to maintain. Hyundai is very well rated this decade receiving top marks for quality and reliability from Consumer Reports and JD Power. Read more at http://www.hyundai.com and http://www.edmunds.com My only concern is, will you be trading in this car at 33,000 miles too? You'll always owe more then the car is worth in that situation.

Shifting problems. how can i improve my shifting skill?

when i start my car in the morning and drive away i am not able to shift into 1st gear. I have already tried to push the clutch again and move the gear stick gently into 1st gear. but it does not want to slip in. so i have to slam it into 1st. sometimes several times.
Shifting problems. how can i improve my shifting skill?
It is NOT you. Your synchro mesh (in the tranny) is worn.

You basically have to live with it or get a tranny rebuild.

Good Luck...
Shifting problems. how can i improve my shifting skill?
you need to have the clutch checked in it,it may need adjusted, when the get out of adjustment it makes them hard to get in gear,it should be easy to get in gear at all times, have a shop check this,is a cheap repair and only takes about 5 minutes to do,good luck with it.

2003 toyota tundra sr5 extra cab 4x4 towing capacity?

I have this truck and I was wondering how big my trailer can be on this truck, I want a 32ft trailer, if thats possible how much can the max weight be on this trailer, If i want to tow cars for people do I need a cdl? Also what kind of insurance would I need
2003 toyota tundra sr5 extra cab 4x4 towing capacity?
That trailer is way too big for the truck. If you plan on hau;ing cars, you have the wrong truck. At least a 3/4 ton would be good. Don't forget the wind as well as stopping quick. The power you have is way too low as well. 12 foot is the biggest i would do.

Why is the car's driving wheel, in most countries, in the left of the cabin?.?

Is it just because of the early designs, and if it is, any reason for the earlier designs to be like that?.
Why is the car's driving wheel, in most countries, in the left of the cabin?.?
It's a carry-over from walking etiquette before cars were invented. The gentleman always walked on the side of the lady exposed to the open roadway to protect her from whatever splashes might occur from passing carriages.

Also, as in a horse-driven carriage, a man driving the team from the side away from the curb makes it possible to allow a lady passenger to be deposited on the sidewalk without risk of harm from passing traffic.

Courtesy was the earmark of gentility, and gracious living the high-watermark of civility.

It is but a remnant of a more civilized age, as was the republic.

.
Why is the car's driving wheel, in most countries, in the left of the cabin?.?
With apologies to Fiddler on the Roof, tradition.

You drove the horses from the left of the wagon, to protect your wife/girlfriend from the hazards of the trail.

When the engine replaced the horse, the driver still sat on the left.
Reply:I think, its a safety thing. Most countries use the "drive on the right" as a road rule. That puts a steering wheel on the left side closer to the "center line" which makes it easier to judge the distance from the line thus easier to keep in the correct driving lane. Head on or near head on accidents are nearly always bad accidents!

In countries where you drive on the left, the wheels are on the right for the same reason!

It may well be left over from Horse and buggy days, but I think today its a safety issue more than historic reason.
Reply:In england its on the right.

This is so you could ride along the left hand side of the road on your carriage and then use your right hand, presumably for most people their "sword hand," to fight off highway men.

Its the same for why spiral staircases in castles twist in one specific way, so it is easier to defend against attackers going up the staircase as it is more difficult for them to fight with the right hand close to the inner or the staircase, as there is less room to parry etc....

I have no idea why it would be on the left though, maybe their all left handed over there :) or attack from highway men wasn't a problem.....
Reply:Well I don't know in which year about a century ago there have been a convention where all the state leaders agreed that they will drive on the right side of the road, that leads to a steering wheel on the left for better sight and better control with passing cars. The Common wealth countries didn't agreed with that rule since most of them were separated from the other world with a watter barrier (islands like UK, Australia), so they drive on the left side of the road using right positioned steering wheel

License Plates...?

I noticed that most states in the northeast have license plates in both the front and back of the vehicle. Why is that?
License Plates...?
Because the majority of the states require it.
License Plates...?
So that it becomes easier to give you a ticket if you pass a red light on one of those cameras.
Reply:It's a law in most states for the car to have a license plate in both front and rear. It's a law in California and Texas too. So it's not just the northeast.
Reply:In most states the one plate deal is done to save money. I'm from NY, a two plate state (hey that rhymes!).

A buddy of mine who's an NY cop told me its because they want to see you coming and going as NY has a high crime rate in the urban areas.

One plate states have also said its because the cops really only look at the plate when they're following someone.

I've searched for this answer on the web in the past and have never really found a great answer.

EDIT, HERE IS SOME INFO FROM WIKIPEDIA:

Many American states are now strictly enforcing laws that require vehicles to display two license plates (on the rear and front of the vehicle).[3] One possible benefit of front license plates is to increase the effectiveness of red-light cameras, which work only if a vehicle can be linked back to its registered owner. Opponents of two license plates usually do not like front plates on certain sports cars and historic cars because of their visual obtrusiveness from the vehicle. (For example, a Car and Driver reader wrote in to the magazine to point out that the Mazda RX8 looks like Bugs Bunny when so equipped.) They argue that they add cost to production, use resources (metal), create double the amount of waste and do not give police any extra tool in recovering stolen vehicles.

California is one of an increasing number of states whose law requiring a front license plate on all vehicles is being petitioned. The petitions are traditionally the result of effort put forth by motorists and car auto enthusiasts who prefer the clean, unobstructed viewing of the front fascia and grille of their vehicle and see little or no practicality in having a front plate on display. Some argue that the presence of a front license plate means unnecessary damage when mounting hardware comes into contact with the bumper of another vehicle. Variations on placement include displaying the front plate inside the vehicle between the dash board and front windshield, having both a state-issued and vanity plate insert on display, and having only a vanity plate insert on display. Police officers frequently cite motorists whose vehicles do not comply with California Vehicle Code section 5200, giving the offender the opportunity to correct the offense.

The petition, originally drafted by William Shaw, argues that not having a front plate on display does not interfere with law enforcement and states, "in the 20 or more states that have abolished the front license plate requirement, there is no evidence of a decline in public safety as a result of the plate removal."[4]

In the U.S. states of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts (most plates issued prior to 1988 - see note below), Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia, however, license plates are currently only required on the rear of the vehicle. Some vanity and specialty plates in Arizona and Kansas are issued in pairs, but only the rear plate is required to be displayed; the optional front plate is something of a bonus for paying an extra fee for the plate.

Massachusetts is a unique case for license plate mounting. Before the introduction of the current "Spirit of America" base starting in 1986 for commercial vehicles and vanity plates and 1988 for all other vehicles, the state issued only a single green-on-white plate to be mounted on the rear bumper. With the current-issue base, two plates are issued, to be mounted on both the front and rear bumpers. Since all license plates issued since 1978 are currently valid, most passenger vehicles registered in Massachusetts display two plates, and those with the older green-on-white plates only display one.
Reply:Here in Illinois it has always been two plates. The original reason may sound far out but the truth usually is. Jail inmates made the plates for cars for years and of course that's about the cheapest labor there is. It also provided an activity for the prisoners to do. That's for real.

Unleaded Gas to compressed Natural Gas Conversion - Cost/Benefit?

Just curious why CNG conversions are not BOOMING at the present? With unleaded ripoffs at present it seems running CNG is looking like a very valid option??? It is about 2.40/gal equiv in Texas and only .91/gal equiv in OK just across the line. Is now the time???

Conversions with tanks are available for 3-4K so the payback isn't all that long anymore..

Notice, I did not say PROPANE I said CNG which is not a gasoline by product like propane!

Natural Gas is available and has a large supply just not many filling stations - (great Government isn't it!) There are a ton of new wells here in DFW area - production couldn't get a better hit than that. The Cities are running it, many fleets are running it, is it time for us the normal drivers to start running it?

Why or why not?
Unleaded Gas to compressed Natural Gas Conversion - Cost/Benefit?
I think the MAIN issue is the EPA.. seems that even though the fuel is known to be cleaner and much lower for the emissions it produces, they want you to PROVE the engine you want to convert burns cleaner.

The tests they want you to do are not able to be done on a one for one basis, you have to submit the engine and automobile to prove that it is lower! Once you prove it you can run it. ??? Even when it will be lower than with gasoline! Common sense has never been a government strong point.

What's the difference between a moon roof and a sun roof?

I don't know. I've wondered about that before, too.
What's the difference between a moon roof and a sun roof?
moon roof is a window sun roof is open
What's the difference between a moon roof and a sun roof?
A moon roof is tinted glass that you can see through.

A sun roof is the solid material that opens completely ... no glass.
Reply:A sun roof opens all the way, retracting into the top of the car. The moon roof lifts up just a little, not opening fully.

I wondered the same thing for a while.
Reply:one can give you a bad case of SUN-cancer and the other can just give you a big SUN-burn.
Reply:A Sun Roof is the glass panel that raises up at the rear of the panel.

A Moon Roof is a glass panel that slides completely open.

Many modern vehicles have combination roofs that do both.

Basically there's no completely accepted term

Help with Car Tires Please!!!?

I need help quick. I have a Subaru Impreza (AWD) and I need a new right rear tire. I have a nail through the sidewall and it cannot be plugged. I have 9000 miles on the car and tires with regular rotations. They are Bridgestone Potenza's re92a-89v. Am I safe just to replace the single tire instead of all four? I know that if you change one it may affect the driveline and tranny but the tires are less than a year old with probably 25% or less treadwear. I just need someone's opinion thanks!!
Help with Car Tires Please!!!?
you can change just the 1 tire
Help with Car Tires Please!!!?
you can chagne the tire jsut make sure its the same size. it doesnt have to be the same brand but the same size
Reply:I doubt if you replace the one tire with a new one that it would effect the driveline or tranny, it's a matter millimeters. If you were to change the size of the tire is where you might run into other alignment issues, but even then some different sized tires are within millimeters of each other and would have little effect.

One option you might look into is buying a used tire from a local tire shop that sells the same brand you have on the car. I know that some shops keep some used tires around for just this reason.

Best thing to do if your still worried is to call some of the local tires shops and ask their professional opinion, if you don't like the answer from the first shop, call another and compare the results.

Best of luck to you.
Reply:sure!, you can just replace 1 tire. theres no use of buying all 4, just because you have a flat. go ahead and get a new tire for that side, it wont hurt nothing, just make sure its the same size as the other 3 are.

Which car is the best....?

and which should I choose. I'm stuck. I love them all.

1. Scion XB

2. Scion Tc

3. Chevy Equinox
Which car is the best....?
Out of these three I'd go with the Tc ;-)

Cheers
Which car is the best....?
Chevy Equinox
Reply:out of the three the best looking is the TC for me but honestly i would not but ay one of them they are all ugly
Reply:The TC without a doubt. However, I'm beginning to like the new XB. The Equinox looks nice but is unreliable and a gas guzzler compared to the other two. They're all in different classes. Odd that you'd be comparing these three. Looks aside, consider what you will use your car for. There's much more to a car than how it looks. Try to be practical. You're not buying high end so I'm assuming that you don't have money to burn. Consider what it will cost to own and if you'll still love it when the novelty wears off. Do research on each vehicle and test drive them. This is your money you are putting into this vehicle (and a lot of it), so spend wisely. It would suck to have a vehicle that you are paying for that consumes a lot of gas or needs to go into the shop for repairs- even if you don't have to pay for the repairs. I'm saying this from experience I had with a Jeep Wrangler. Buying based on emotion is not a wise choise.
Reply:the chevy is garbage take that off your list

the scion xb- is horrible looking but if you are gonna buy one make sure its the new 08 models, they came with a 158hp engine while the 04-06 models came with a 103 hp engine %26lt; barely any power!

the scion tc would be the best out of your choices, its fun to drive, has a lot of features teenagers want these days, very reliable and a good resale value
Reply:I just purchased a 2008 XD......so far, I love it....

What is the best way to transport two kayaks on my sedan?

We have two kayaks that we want to be able to use, but we only have a 4 door Saturn L200 and a 2 door Toyota Celica. We can't afford to have an entire roof rack system installed, so we're wondering if there are any temporary systems that would work on a sedan? Or, should I just use rope, foam, %26amp; carpeting and knot the heck out of them? Any idea whether two kayaks are even going to fit on an L200? The kayaks are approx 12" in depth and 24" width. Serious replies only please.

Does Biomeer fuel additive (from Cavolution) really work to get better fuel economy?

I've been reading a little online, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of independent review (other than some testing done by a reputable independent lab).

It supposedly increases fuel economy by 20% and more than makes up for the cost of the product. The theory of improving engine efficiency seems to make sense.

Has anyone actually used this product? I'm thinking about buying it and trying for myself.

The website is cavolution.com and I heard their ad on a local radio station in Vancouver.
Does Biomeer fuel additive (from Cavolution) really work to get better fuel economy?
They are basically fuel injector cleaners. AND YES they work to improve your MPG (if your injectors are clogged). But nobody uses those fuel additive for every tank (I often add about 1 or 2 tankful before the inspection).

Forget all those "SAVE GAS" scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas:

(1) drive slow - not too much past 55

(2) accelerate slowly

(3) don't brake unnecessarily

(4) use cruise control - whenever it is safe to do so.

Don't coast - it is NOT safe and it does NOT save gas.

The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That's 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55.

WOW !!

===

Assuming you are suffering from bad MPG. Get a tune up :

(1) spark plugs

(2) spark plug wires

(3) coils,

(4) distributors,

(5) PCV, etc.

(6) fuel injector (carb) cleaner - important

Check your tire pressure. Get the ODB II scanned to see if it is reading and engine diag code. Sometime failing MAF sensor, O2 sensor or water temp sensor can kill your MPG. The water temp sensor is particularly cheap but a big MPG problem if it fails. The computer thinks that the engine has NEVER warmed and constantly run rich. And failed water temp sensor often does NOT create check engine light.

As simple as that...

Good Luck...

Lower GAS mileage?

has anyone tried this?
Lower GAS mileage?
wow thats amazing stuff but still i would try it on a car unless its under 3k worth
Lower GAS mileage?
I don't believe a word of it. If it were so, everyone would be doing it. I think it's a scam to get your money. When I see it, I'll believe it.
Reply:No, but i just purchased the instalation kit and am going to try it on my toyota land cruiser. It all makes sense, and its really easy to install. Heck, if i can increase, my mileage by 30% , I'll be very happy. I got my information from this site , www.bigeasyclub.com. They also have a forum, you should check it out. Its very informative.

Why do cars decrease in value so quickly and dramatically?

Reply:Ego and everyone wanting to keep up with the Jones. I gotta have the best, newest and most expensive so I can brag about it. Pretty dumb, huh? Used cars would be a real let down to some folks. Gotta trade for every new model.

We've got the wants, not the needs. Therefore there are so many used cars out there. And the dealers have got to get rid of them. When you move a new car it becomes a used car and is valued accordingly.
Reply:In the early days of automobiles, the idea was to build a car that would last a man a lifetime.

But every time new styles and technology was developed, people needed to buy a new car to get the new technology.

New styles don't really work anymore to get people to buy new cars, and new technology is getting so expensive, people very often opt not to ante up the bucks to get it.

The trend for manufacturers in the 70s and 80s was to conspire with government to make equipment mandatory. Seat belts, air bags, 5mph bumpers, smog equipment. That way they could sell you alot more equipment with your car.

Now computers have changed everything. All a manufacturer has to do is program the computer to make the car run bad when the warranty runs out and everyone goes running for the dealership to buy a new car.

Don't you love progress!

.
Reply:A lot of a cars initial value is based on dealer mark-up. The dealer is trying to make money, so they buy the car cheap. They get the cars cheap from a company, like ford, because they have a contract saying they will sell Ford cars. After they buy the cars they mark up the value on the car lot. When you go there they offer cheap financing and special discounts so it looks like you got a good deal off the sticker price, in fact you still gave them more money than they paid for the car. Back on subject... The value of a vehicle is based on what someone would buy it for. So after you drive off the lot and it is in your possession why would the car dealer pay you more for a used car, when he can get a new one for less than he sold the car to you for?

That is just one reason, there are other factors such as gas millage, features, and size. Cars generally lose a lot of there value because of the dealerships.

no it doesnt apply to taxis
Does the congestion charge apply to taxis? if so. does the passenger have to pay it?
no it doesnt apply, but it can be used as a very handy loophole in the system, people register their cars as taxis, and dont have to pay the charge, and, if it is registered, thats it, you dont have to prove earnings or workplace (to the best of my knowledge)

i heard on the radio 15 ferrari's and x amount of bentleys have all registered as taxis!

How do i replace a lost car title if it was bought by my recently deceased grandma?

k i am trying to track down all the paperwork there is for this car but it was bought for me a few years ago, and i was told it was put in my name at one point but all i have is 3 older registration/ownership receipts with her name (we share the same last name if that matters in anything).

the car has not been used in a while and does not have current registration and my grandma passed recently but i don't think any titles are coming from her stuff so I don't know what happened to it : /

is there a place to get the proper ownership papers again?

or are there other ways to prove that the car is mine to sell it or something?
How do i replace a lost car title if it was bought by my recently deceased grandma?
Your (DMV) will help you with this........

1. I know that you will have to swear out and sign paperwork at the (DMV) that states that this vehicle has not been driven.

2. A bill of sale would be very helpful.

3. You may be asked to bring a death certificate.

4. An affidavit from your grandmas executor for her will would be helpful.

What is the BEST TUNER CAR for UNDER $$20,000??????????
Depends on your opinion of best...

People will shout Honda Civic! for its overall aftermarket support, or Nissan 350Z!! for its factory stock performence plus aftermarket upgrades... Then the Dodge Neon SRT-4 because it has great bang for buck, although a Neon.

But then you could go the C5 Corvette route. Like '97 - '00 should be a great condition one for under $20k. 0-60 in 4.7 seconds stock, plus you could always supercharge or even turbocharge to get more power.

Has anyone got any tips for a new driver?

i just passed my driving test (just - there was a stop sign hidden behind a tree which i didn't see until the last second) and my instructor said that you can learn a lot off other drivers.

this is in the UK, but i guess international tips will also help

advice.
Has anyone got any tips for a new driver?
The best piece of advice I can give you is this:

Assume that every other driver on the road is an idiot. Expect them to swerve out infront of you. Expect them to cut you up and expect them to stop suddenly. That way you are always prepared for the worst. Also stick to the speed limits - they are there for a reason.
Has anyone got any tips for a new driver?
when i passed my test many years ago i still remember the tester saying never forget you are always learning , i think this applies to many situations as well
Reply:He didnt mean it like that, he probably meant, you can learn alot about whats going on by watching the drivers infront of you as to what they are doing. i.e. if they are stopping, look out for signs and what theyre doing and what not...
Reply:You will most probably be a great driver....if only because you have the sense to even ask this question. Here's some tips I was told when I passed.

You only *really* start to learn to drive when you pass your test.

You need eyes in the back of your head. Anticipate an idiot at every junction, and at every roundabout. In fact, just anticipate idiots. Full stop.

Try not to drive with music or other distractions for the first few weeks. You should be concentrating 100 percent on driving. Some new drivers even find conversations difficult. It takes about six months before you find you are driving without thinking about every move, and even then for the rest of your driving life you will always have to concentrate 100 percent.

Don't ever feel even slightly pressured by your passengers to go faster, or go on an unfamiliar road if you are not comfortable.

Never EVER speed. It is so easy to clip a kerb and lose control. Never EVER drink and drive, or text and drive..but I guess you know these things already.

And here are some I found on the net.

You're biggest risk of having a bad accident is within the first two years of you passing your driving test. Follow these hints and you can reduce this risk.

1. After passing your test it will be strange to find an empty front passenger seat. The first time you drive take someone with you for support. Think seriously about displaying a `P' plate.

2. When you do have to drive completely alone, begin on roads that you know but remember to keep a road atlas in the car in case you get lost.

3. When you get your confidence, drive like you own the CAR, not the road!

4. You've learned to drive and passed your test by sticking to the rules. Stay this way and you'll stay alive ! So will your passengers and others on the road.

5. Your quick reactions won't always stop you having an accident. Spotting and responding to problems ahead in plenty of time will.

6. Drive in a way that suits your ability and the traffic conditions. It doesn't impress anybody if you drive fast in the wrong places and you could end up in a lot of trouble.

7. Have plenty of sleep, especially before making a big journey and take plenty of rest breaks to restore your alertness. Listen to the radio for traffic reports and make sure you've enough fuel.]

8. Fiddling with the radio or a cassette when your driving can be dangerous. So can playing your sound system so loud that you can't hear the sirens of an emergency vehicle.

9. Give your mates a lift, but remember you're the driver so you're in control. Don't succumb to peer pressure. If they give you hassle, drop them off at a bus stop!

10. Don't scare your passengers by turning your head away from the road ahead when talking to any of them!

11. Take motorway tuition and seriously think about advanced driver training. Research shows that it makes better drivers.

12. Driving a four wheel drive motor doesn't suspend the laws of physics. You can still lose control if you ask too much of it.

13. Don't leave valuables in your car where they can be seen because this invites a break in.

14. Keep space from aggressive drivers. Don't get involved in trouble.

15. Be seen. Whenever you need to turn your windscreen wipers on switch your lights as well.

16. If you're driving on a slippery or loose surface use the foot controls very gently.

17. Taking drugs and driving, like drinking alcohol before driving is a definite `No'..

18. Before driving abroad you need professional advice.

19. Keep some tools in your car !

20. If you're driving alone, particularly if you're a woman you should:

a. Plan your journey properly and let somebody know your route.

b. Carry a pen, paper, maps, first aid kit, torch, small change, warm clothing/blanket and a fire extinguisher.

c. Carry a mobile phone (only for emergencies).

d. Carry a personal attack alarm.

e. Be sure that your car is in good order and join a recovery organization

21. If your vehicle breaks down, don't panic. There are far more friendly people on the roads than those who would wish to harm you.

* If you can, pull up where there are houses, street lighting and a telephone.

* If you are somewhere remote you are at less risk if you stay inside your car. Use your mobile phone. If you have to walk take your personal attack alarm with you.

* If a stranger does offers assistance, note their car number, keep your doors locked, speak to them through a closed window and send them to get help.

Good luck!!

Reply:Hi, First of all, How much has it cost you to pass your test? 拢200 拢300 拢400 Or is it more? your time has just started as a driver, you Licence is not a right to be on the road but a legality, Time gives you the experience, not tear ars------- think of a number of things, Dont listen to your so-called mates teling you as the driver to speed, also think of the power that your car has!!!!!! Do you have the experience to take the manouver? do you have the experience to take a course of action if another car comes along when you are taking the action, Last but not least, you get your Licence taken off you quicker than you got it, then you become a laugh with your mates as you walk a nd they are in someone else car, ( THINK ABOUT THAT).
Reply:from what ive heard. most accidents involving new drivers occur after the 1st few months. when they get cocky and think they have the driving thing sussed.

they get careless and irresponsible.

this is the most dangerous time
Reply:when you come to a intersection, go slow and see if theres a stop sign, also dont drink and drive and if you need to use those cell phones, pull off the road and talk.alot of accidents happen because they pay more attension to who they are talking to, rather then their driving.
Reply:never take anything for granted! alot of accidents happen only a short distance from home, quite often in their own street! this is where people take this for granted, its rare that someone would be backing out from their drive as you are , but be careful, this can happen!

Unfortunately its practise and experience, it takes around 1-2 years to become fully experienced if you ask me, but in the first few months you'll get an idea of how other people drive in your area, how they react to different things, how courteous they are etc, just remember your training before you become more confident, and never ever take anything for granted!
Reply:just remember one thing...ALWAYS EXSPECT THE UNEXSPECTED.....if theres a parked car EXSPECT a child to run out from behind it.....if theres a car at a junction waiting to join the trafic EXSPECT him to pull out infront of you.....hope this helps.

Has anyone succesfully converted their car to burn hho gas and water?.?

I was just wondering if anyone has successfully converted their car to run on water and gasoline to increase mileage. I found this website ,http://bigeasyclub.com, and was wondering if anyone has tryed it?.
Has anyone succesfully converted their car to burn hho gas and water?.?
Although you'll always find plenty of people who claim that these HHO/Brown's Gas systems work on their vehicles, you'll almost inevitably find that they are also selling them or ebooks or some other product related to this scam.

Of course they'll say they work -- they want you to give them money to buy systems or ebooks on the subject.

However, the reality is that these systems simply do not work.

If they really worked you could bet your bottom dollar that they'd be standard equipment on every single vehicle sold in the world today.

If you want more information, check the link I've cited below.

Don't be sucked in by these scammers.
Has anyone succesfully converted their car to burn hho gas and water?.?
Honestly, YES it does work. I have done this to my 2004 Scion xb and currently get about 50 (yes, fifty) miles per gallon.

I wrote a review and how to here:

http://www.squidoo.com/Water-For-Gas-Con...

It's very simple. You don't change your engine or computer. A quart-size (95O cc) container is placed somewhere under the hood. You fill it with DISTILLED WATER and a little bit of BAKING SODA. The device gets vacuum and electricity (12 Volts) from the engine, and produces HHO gas (Hydrogen+Oxygen). The HHO gas is supplied to the engine's intake manifold or carburetor as shown below.

Hope this helps. :-)

Jeff

P.S. To the guy below that says it's a scam....I did it myself, and I got 550 miles on my last 10 galon tank of gas
Reply:Unlike other posters here I actually have tried it and it actually does work..I don't save 80% on gas but I do save around 30%.

It's not alot but I'd rather save 30% compared to 0%

Hope this helps you:)

http://www.run--your--car--on--water.com
Reply:Yes, I have and several friends, co-workers and family members.

There are many factors involved in whether an HHO generator will work well or not. The major factors are:

1. what are the electrodes made of, how well will they conduct electricity and how quickly will they corrode?

2. What electrolyte mixture are you using in the water (electrolyte is required to make the water conduct electricity to split the hydrogen and oxygen)

3. how much oxygen are you involving in the gas out to the engine?

4. How many o2 sensors does your vehicle have and how will they react to the extra oxygen they will detect? (sometimes the o2 sensors will detect more oxygen and increase your fuel ratio to compensate for it - I personally have not had this problem, but have heard others record it)

Speaking from my personal experience with the generator I now built, I have literally TRIPLED my gas mileage.

Potential hazards include:

1. Chance of exploding HHO gases if mis-used.

2. Blowing fuses.

3. Water damage to the exhaust over time.

4. Water in the engine - if you are really really careless.

Additional: Common "problems" thrown at you by the nay-sayers, and the narrow-minded smug:

1.*** It takes more electricity to produce than it gives in return with energy.*** = TRUE.=

That is why these are being used along with gasoline engines! (come on folks! think a little).

The electrolysis here is powered by the alternator from the combustion of gasoline. Because the product is HHO (which is 3 times more combustible than gasoline) - less gasoline is required to achieve the same speeds as before THUS - more MILES PER GALLON.

2. ***It's a scam*** = False=.

You might as well call Flashlights, Airlines, Solar Power and Refridgeration scams also. All science is first denied by the narrow-minded. Flip through a good history book, then learn some Chemistry! The electrolysis of water produces Hydrogen. Hydrogen and Oxygen (when not combined in H2O formula) are highly combustible. This can be used in internal combustion engines.

Yes, it takes additional battery power if you want to do this solo without gasoline - but doens't all science require some work on our part? Stop being so Lazy!

What is the difference???

ok so im ready for a new car...so ive been thinking about infiniti but whats the difference between the FX 35 and FX 45...yeah the FX 45 is probably better and whatever but why??? in what way?? if anyone can let me know id appretiate it very much!!! thank you
What is the difference???
the engine is different, the fx 35 has a 3.5l and the 45 has a 4.5l, so the fx 45 is more powerful, but also gets worse gas mileage, the fx 35 is a great car

Are you using less gas?

Yes! I am making an effort to carpool, and it works!
Are you using less gas?
Definitely, gas in my area is very near to $5 a gallon ($4.89) i used to drive my car to school all the time, but now i use the campus shuttle or just walk it there. Me and my friends also try and carpool to get groceries and stuff to save gas, taking turns for shopping or going to the mall helps out. When i do drive, i just take it slow on the gas, no unnecessary accelerations and i let off the gas when i can. Trying not to go over 70 on the freeway too, saving me a lot more gas, in fact i'm seeing as much as 50 more miles on a tank now. It's great.
Are you using less gas?
Oh yeah! I can't see wasting $$ on gas unnecissarily. I can think of better things to buy with it.
Reply:Im not at all, I can honestly care less how much gas cost. I fill up once a week. and i have about 15 gallon i put in each week. when gas is 3.00 a gallon it cost me 45$ to fill up. when its 4.00 a gallon it cost me 60$ to fill up. 15 $ a week is nothing to me and i don't even notice it. so i do not drive any less.

The problem with the gas price isnt about people driving around (unless you job makes u drive alot), it's more for the trucking indisty and how it makes all consumer good go up b/c of rising shipping cost.
Reply:yes and i bought most of my school clothing online i save money to the store plus less miles on my blazer
Reply:I stay at home all the time now and it's not fun.

Could you get a turbo or a supercharger in an Automatic car ?

Many people saying yes you can and some say no..

how much would it cost if you have a ( volkwagen gti ) automatic.
Could you get a turbo or a supercharger in an Automatic car ?
Yes you can. Most tubo cars are automatics.
Could you get a turbo or a supercharger in an Automatic car ?
almost any turbo/supercharger application has an automatic more common than a manual.

volvo, mitsubishi, ford, chevy, chrysler, saab, subaru to name a few
Reply:yes you can the turbo has nothing to do with the tranny exept it will make your gears shift harder so your going to need a new clutch disk unless you want to destroy your transmission. and for a gti id say around 1k-2k for a good one
Reply:Yes you can. Turbo builds are expensive though, a good one will cost you at least $5,000. Most of them cost more towards $10,000. You can get one done for $2,000 but you get what you pay for, don't be so upset when your engine is destroyed. Also you'll spend a lot in upkeep and maintenance after its built. Most good turbo builds require a lot of maintenance and use of premium fuel to keep it all good. People would say no to turbo an auto because its more effective in a manual, where you can actually control your engine more. Most automatic transmission were not designed to handle turbo's, thats why on many cars that are auto and turbo'd often wear down the transmission a lot faster. So yes, you could get it done, it will be expensive, but it can be done. Supercharger could also be done, but i've never heard of a GTI with a supercharger, heard of them having a Turbo though.
Reply:yes are u stupid. for the short version : turbo charges and super charges are add on's to the engine, they have nothing at all to do with the transmission. Both a super and turbo charge increases horsepower by forcing more air into the engine and more fuel can be effectively consumed cause more power.
Reply:yup i would recommened to have so tranny work done
Reply:Absolutely.

Nissan used to build some 280ZX turbos with Automatic transmissions. They are actually QUICKER off the line doing 0-60 than their manual counterparts.

Should i get one of those Segway magic scooter things?

I hear they look kinda stupid, and I don't want people to tease me or throw stuff at me as I seg around town.

But they don't require any gasoline, right?

Should i get one of those Segway magic scooter things?
they are sexy

end of story
Reply:those are cool!
Reply:I wouldn't say anyone would say you are nerdy. It takes skill to use one, so they would think you are coordinated. It takes money to buy one, so they would say you are rich (not to say that being rich is the most important thing in life). %26amp;, they are cool looking. Most people (including me) would totally be jealous.

Segways rockkkk :]
Reply:NO gas buddy and don't tell a lot of Cops their look stupid either.

Many police departments are getting them for their officers.

They are electric and just need recharging.

The Segway PT can take you places that a car or bicycle can't - including inside many stores, office buildings, businesses, airports, elevators, and trains. Although they're ideal for short jaunts, Segway PTs can travel as far as 24 miles/38 km on a single battery charge, depending on terrain, payload, and riding style.
Reply:For the money you are probably better off buying a moped, and using the left over money for gas... opinion
Reply:Hahahhaaa it is the best looking thing, and it runs on batteries.

It is so cool, but expensive
