91 octane or 87?

I drive a brand new bmw 328 it is written on the owner's manual to use only 91 gasoline, but I use 87 almost always, I can't feel any difference using the 2 different gas. Am I really doing somehing wrong? What can happen?
91 octane or 87?
technically its not good for the motor, it causes it to throw off its timing and exaust reading, normally will cause you performance and gas mileage.
91 octane or 87?
It's generally not a good idea to go below what the manual says. You would probably only notice the difference if you were running the car flat out. When you use too low of an octane rating the computer has to retard the timing to make up for the lower octane fuel. That results in decreased power output. In rare cases it could actually lead to engine damage but with today's computer controlled cars it's not likely. You are most likely just losing power and fuel efficeincy.
Reply:Most of the time if you use 87 in a car that needs 91, it will scale down the performance a notch and over time it will gunk up the engine and some say it will wear the engine down. In cars that are written 91 only, your supposed to put 91 only. You may not feel a difference between 87 and 91, but the engine is designed around the use of 91 octane fuel to run at its best, so putting in 87 will still let your car run, but might have a negative effect down the road.

My car needs premium too, mistakingly 87 was put in it one day, it started to knock and ping and it was driving slower than usual, so now i make sure to not put anything but premium in there.

There's been some articles out there saying you don't need 91 if its "required" and are fine with just 87, but none of them study the long term effects of this on the engine. Although many of them have noted the slight decrease in performance, they say its not bad for saving 20 cents a gallon. I'd rather pay that 20 cents a gallon and not gunk up my engine and eventually ruin it, than pay for a new engine sooner.
Reply:First all here is a suggestion, go to the BMW dealer and return the beautiful car back since you are such an asshole cant take care of your car.

Second,... dont ever buy a German car again, go buy urself a ricer..

Bye and suffer dickface
