In a late 90's early 2000 edition of both cars which would yall say is a little bit better on gas? I know they both come close but lets say a 6 and 8 cyl automatic of each....THANKS!

Trans am, a camaro has a big engine and would cost more on gas.

The V6 would be better of fuel economy, but the V8 isn't that much worse. Especially when you're getting 150HP more. The V8 isn't bad on gas anyways. It gets like 27 MPG highway vs. the V6s 30MPG. By the way the Trans/Ams are V8 versions of the Firebirds BTW. So if it says Trans/Am on the side then it's a V8.
Reply:The 6 cyl of course but..... I would get the V8 no doubt beause the 6cyl are junk. Buy the V8 you will be happier in the long run.
Reply:6 cyl of either is better on gas than 8 cyl of either. Camaro will tend to be a little better on gas overall, but not enough to make a real difference. Probably within a couple miles of its counterpart. Either one is going to suck down the juice, especially in 8 cyl
Reply:All depends on the condition of the engine

6 cyl will use less but 8 cyl are worth it i say
Reply:Whew! I owned one of the last "Bandit" cars and loved it. Everything but the gas in 1979! These are just not gas savers. They are sports cars. I have no idea what the late 90's were like. I do know the 80's models really were bad. Starting with that turbo charged variant. You can make any car run right if you keep it long enough and take care of it and know what you are doing. But you have to fix what was not done on the production line in the first place. I have a friend who is also an aircraft mechanic. He restored a '70 Triumph Spitfire and basically rewired the entire car. It is not classic to a purist. But It is a fine little car now. Only a complete masochist would live with original Lucas Electrics, "masters of darkness". I would never buy them today, a ten year old Mita is a lot better car with same virtues. But hey different strokes to different folks. If you buy one of these its going to cost you in gas and work, unless you can do the work yourself. No matter what model you buy. None were designed with gas saving in mind.....or reliability.
