Any motor scooter owners that can share their experiences?

Is your scooter reliable? Have you had any safety issues arise? Does is make sense for about a 20 miles a day commute? Did it end up paying for itself with gas savings? Anything you can share would be helpful; I'm sorta just looking right now, but I'm interested in something in the 150cc range that I can drive to work and school everyday. Many thanks!

PS-I live around Central Florida, so if any Floridians know of a good (and somewhat cheap) place to go, that would be great, too!)

I can share my scraped knees and elbows if you want. :D

My only experience with a scooter was in the 49cc range. It was rather weak (stick to the small roads or slow traffic) but it got me to and fro. But the gas savings was awesome. I got about 89 mpg and would only cost me about what they were showing on the signs to top off from empty.
