Would it hurt your vehicle to put in e85 instead of regular unleaded?

IF its not designed for it,yes!

If your vehicle is not designed to run on both- it will cause a world of hurt for you- it can ruin your rubber fuel lines, just for starters. Also- you would generally get less mileage than you do with gasoline. in a nutshell- if its not made for it- dont do it. Whatever you save on the e85 will manifest itself in other more expensive ways.

If your vehicle is NOT designed as a flex fuel vehicle ... ABSOLUTELY!

e85 is slightly corrosive, more so than regular gasoline. Thus, a lot of the internal piping are different to deal with the corrosiveness in a e85 compatible engine.

Furthermore, use of e85 in non-flex-fuel vehicles risk damaging the catalytic converter, and if prolonged, damage to the cylinder heads as well.

Finally, e85 will make a regular car feel VERY sluggish, as if losing abou 30% of the power or more.
Reply:If your vehicle is not designed to run on E85 DO NOT put it in the tank. I know gas prices are high in the US but do not let that damage your car. Check the gas tank cap and the manual and see what they recommend.
