How many cars should one family have???

My fiancee and I are expecting a baby in Dec. We both feel we need a larger car. We have 2 good size dogs, a little dog, and a baby. I want an SUV because we live in the sierra mountains and get lots of snow. We also like to cramp.

Here are the cars we have right now

2000 V8 Dodge Pick up short Bed small Cab. Poor MPG No room for a Fam.

2000 Subaru Impreza wagon. Good in snow ok MPG Small.

2002 Subaru Impreza wagon. Things are starting to go. I would like to get rid of it before I have to drop 1,000s in to it.

1972 Plymouth Satellite , Classic car we only take out for fun now and then. BAD MPG.

I think we should sell my 2002 Subaru and his Dodge. Take that money use it as a down payment for a Grand Cherokee with low Milage. He likes the jeeps. He will not part with his dam truck. He drives the 2000 Subaru more anyways. It makes me so mad. I am not asking to get rid of the classic. I think 4 cars is too much.

Am I wrong to want less cars?

What should we do?

less cars = less payments = less insurance , with a baby the little ones are very expencive , if you have the means , sell the 02 and let the man have his toys

4 cars is too much unless you have 2 15+ year olds. I wouldn't buy a Jeep if I was you and I probably wouldn't have a Dodge or Subaru either.
Reply:sell them all and

buy a 2007 mazda cx7 (for your baby)**4 cyl

and buy a 2007 civic coupe (for low MPG)
Reply:thats a matter of opinion. If you have need to haul things it is very nice to have a truck, a grand cherokee will probably not get much better milage.

I have the following cars:

2004 dodge ram

1995 dodge neon

2-1981 Z28 camaros

1972 plymouth satallite (it's a consiracy)

1993 chevy S10 blazer

1985 honda shadow motorcycle

1985 Fleetwood motorhome

Doesn't sound like you have that many to me!!
Reply:no you are not wrong,

right now we have three cars;

-1998 nissan Altima-PROUDLY MINE!

-2007 honda civic-wifes

-2008 chevrolet suburban-I know,it a gas guzzler!

What our idea was is that we use the altima and civic for daily drivin(going to work, running errands etc.) and the suburban to tow our boat and to use on long trip and during the winter.

here is what we did for the plates on the suburban, only keep them registered during three months during the summer three months so we dont pay for the chev when it sits in the garage and so if your broker allows that for the truck and classic do it.
Reply:i would say no more then 2 cars.
Reply:Unless your baby will know how to drive as soon as it's born, I'd say the max you would NEED is 2.
Reply:One family car and a small car for every office goer.
