I would like to know what is the difference between the rear axle assembly and rear axle housing?


Where can i get both of these parts for 02 Mustang

Axle housing is just the shell. Axle Assembly is the entire rear end. Best place to find a complete rear end is a junk yard.

if u buy an assembly ....the housing is included...the assembly is the gears, axles ,bearings,seals,(the entire rear end)....the housing is the the shell or empty rear end with no internal parts ....such as a gear set, spiders,axles,bearings,seals ect.....depending on the quality of rear end u are looking for....e-bay....a salvage yard....summit...or a mustang enthusiasts web site
